Kulturschock Bangkok

Bangkok ist laut, lebendig, lecker. Obwohl wir erst einen Nachmittag  hier verbracht haben, können wir bereits mindestens fünf Stereotype über Thailand bestätigen.

Die Liebe zum König

Das Erste, was wir in der Stadt gesehen haben, war ein großes Foto vom thailändischen König. Er begegnete uns heute überall: Im Flughafen, im Hotel, auf den Geldscheinen sind seine Porträts zu sehen. Für uns ist es erstmal nichts Besonderes – wir stammen ja aus Belarus.

((Das tut jetzt zwar nicht zur Sache, aber das Zweite, was uns ins Auge stich, war der Eifelturm. Vielleicht kann mir das jemand erklären oder wir finden es während unserer monatigen Reise selbst heraus, was er auf einem Dach mitten in Bangkok vergessen hat.))

Die kurze Fahrt mit dem Tuk-Tuk vom Hotel zur nächsten Metrostation war sehr aufregend – besonders für die Kinder. Mein Mann und ich mussten in unseren inzwischen ziemlich eingedeutschten Köpfen erstmal damit klarkommen, dass niemand sich hier anschnallt. Außerdem mussten wir uns daran gewöhnen, ständig nach rechts statt nach links zu gucken. Die Zebrastreifen scheinen hier bloß zur Verschönerung da zu sein.

Tolles Essen in Thailand 

Das Essen ist in Thailand ein Erlebnis, das haben wir gehört. Nach der Anreise hatten wir Hunger. Wir mussten nicht lange suchen. Direkt neben der Metrostation richteten die Einheimischen abends Ihre Open-Air-Cafés ein.

Zuerst ließen wir uns von gegrillten Fleischspiessen verführen. Nach einem Biss wollte unser vierjähriger Sohn dann doch lieber einen Burger. Auch für mich waren sie zu scharf. Ich bestellte eine Suppe im hübschen Töpfchen und war völlig überrascht, als der Kellner uns rohes Fleisch, Ei, Glasnudeln und Kräuter brachte. Wir mussten die Suppe selber kochen. Nach einer kurzen Anleitung bekamen wir das hin. Die Suppe schmeckte köstlich.

Unser erstes Essen rundeten wir mit Kokosmilch, Mango und Wassermelone ab. So schlossen wir mit dem 12-stündigen Nachtflug nach Bangkok unseren Frieden.

Kinderfreundlichkeit in Thailand

Unser Baby ist ein Star. Now it’s official! Bereits im Flughafen guckte jeder in den Buggy rein und lächelte. Der Grenzbeamte kitzelte ihn am Fuß. Im Skytrain machte eine junge Frau heimlich Bilder von ihm. Beim Essen saß der Kleine auf einmal beim Kellner auf dem Arm. Bis jetzt findet er das alles eher lustig. Mal sehen, ob mit dem Beginn der Fremdelphase mit 8 Monaten das so weiter bleibt.

Plastikmüll in Thailand

Eine Sache stimmte uns jedoch bereits zu Beginn der Reise nachdenklich. Mit Nachhaltigkeit haben es die Thailänder (zumindest im Vergleich mit den Deutschen) nicht so drauf. Jedes kleine Stück Obst und Gebäck wird in Plastik verpackt. Überall wird Plastikgeschirr verwendet. Bei unserem kleinen Einkauf im Supermarkt haben wir eine Matrjoschka-Tüte bekommen. In einer Tüte waren zwei weitere drin. Außerdem fanden wir dort ein paar Strohhalme. Wahrscheinlich packte die Verkäuferin sie mit ein, weil wir zwei Flaschen Wasser kauften. Das Warmwasser wird bei uns im Hotel übrigens mit Strom zubereitet. Im Land der Sonne haben wir bis jetzt keine Sonnenkollektoren gesehen. Gut, wir sind erst einen halben Tag hier. Wir sind gespannt auf weitere Entdeckungen.
